THE MOTTO OF CRIMINAL DEFENSE
Through the accused, a good criminal defense attorney defends you- your freedoms, your finances, and your families. Whether public or private, a good defense attorney will work hard to defend the innocent and to rehabilitate the offender. He or she will fight to keep the addicted out of jails and prisons, and into rehabilitation facilities. He or she will also fight for fair sentences, for civilized treatment of the mentally ill, and for an end to abuses by law enforcement and other members of our American criminal justice system. Proper criminal defense should be based upon a proposition of non-discrimination in representation; whether good, bad, or ugly, the good defense attorney will represent all types of persons accused of all types of charges and accusations. Our system of justice only works when the defense attorney works hard and tries to win his or her case within ethical boundaries, no matter how bad things may look. This approach is needed so the community at large will know that if the worst of offenders receive quality representation, so will everyone else.
