Crimes

I worked the first 4 years of my career in the DUI court of Placer County when I was working for the Public Defender. I handled half of the entire Public Defender DUI caseload during this time. It was a ton of work. Chances are 50/50 that if got a DUI in Placer County from between 2000 to 2004 and you couldn’t afford a private attorney I represented you. I learned a lot about doing jury trials, cross-examining experts, understanding breathalyzers, chemical blood and urine testing, and may other aspects of toxicology. I learned the DMV law and procedures. I also built a strong skill in fighting the court and the prosecution for fair deals for my clients. Its a shame to see what’s happened to standard sentences for DUI’s in Placer County since my former boss lost the Public Defender contract in 2007. Sentences have gone up substantially. I’m proud of the work I and other PD’s did fighting for fair sentences and doing jury trials during the years Len Tauman and Dan Kokoul had the Public Defender contract.
